Hi, I'm M0EPX and M1/M3LTS (Liam Stone) thanks for visiting my humble web site,,, like the picky,, I know could be better hey??!! Well that should be changed very soon I hope and it should be a better one..... My QTH is in Wisborough Green in West Sussex my grid square Locator is IO90RX and my WAB square is TQ04 ....
My dad is a ham (G0OXZ / AI4BK previously G7IES) and was born in Calgary in Canada in 1967, he came over to England at the age of 8, hence, I am half Canadian and proud of it!!
My mum is not ham although was involved shortly in CB radio in the early eighties and was born in England in 1965 and my family on her side has some rather interesting ties.
These interesting ties consist of ancestors from Ireland, Wales, Hungary (not recently), Romany gypsies and so on, you could call me Heinz 57 variety if you like but again I'm proud of my ancestry.
I have been interested in electronics all my life and always been fascinated with the workings of gizmo's, this can be confirmed by countless dead and maimed (meaning dismantled) electronic devices, including everything from computers to stereo's and so on....
Before I was a ham I dabbled into CB radio for a short while as 2F8IP, I have been a radio ham since I took the Foundation course at Horsham amateur radio club in August 2002, and later in the year (Dec 2002) after self study I successfully passed the RAE and became Full class b license holder (class b now defunct). In mid 2003 I took and passed the morse test at Epsom Radio and electronics fair and thus became M0EPX.
In just under ten months I successfully studied for and passed three classes of amateur radio licences, not bad EH?!
My main interests in amateur radio are packet, VHF fm simplex and of course CW!! At the moment I am building a Ten Tec 40m Morse transceiver kit and hope to have it completed very soon, hope to see you online very soon..... Check out the projects page in January 2004 and follow the progress, I have also started playing around with a few other projects that will materialise on the projects page on this site in the later half of 2006 (when ever i get around to sorting it out)......
My main reasons for becoming a full class A or CEPT CLASS 1 (both now defunct) are that I need a challenge, that's what makes me tick, my next challenge is to study for and pass the ARRL Technician, General and Extra class licenses but that will have to wait until I have time to study and pass the examinations. I have to take all three of the licences to graduate to the top end of the American licensing system..... which should be fun..........
I am currently working for BOC Edwards in engineering and I am studying Mechanical engineering at college at this precise moment in time, and I will be studying the HNC next year to complete my engineering apprenticeship.
After leaving the company I plan to go to university and study for my MEng in Electrical and Electronic or Mechanical tech engineering, so I will be working very hard on that point for the foreseeable future but I hope to have completed that within the next five years.
My other interests in this material world are computers and mechanics specifically old engines, cars, motorbikes ect..... you might see me round one of the many vintage events up and down the south of England, feel free to stop me and say hello....... And who knows you might see me with one of the engines,,, feel free to ask me anything
I am currently now working on a 1990 Mini Mayfair Automatic which has very little wrong with it.. I hope to get it re-sprayed very soon but otherwise the rebuild has been completed.
I am currently studying for the ARRL amateur radio licence and when I get time I hope to take the exams....
Once I hopefully get my ARRL amateur radio licence later on in the not to distant future I hope to be on the air as a proud owner of an American call or just as M0EPX.
My dad passed the American Extra Class license (equivalent to the British Full class license) and has beat me to it this time but I will catch up when I get time to take the examinations and maybe some day pass the French Amateur radio license.. And who knows I might even beat his pass score, no chance eh dad??!!
My good friend Helen (M3FSA) passed her foundation course and got her licence about a year ago, congratulations for that Helly, I am very proud of her as she thought she couldn't do it .. I knew all along she would and hopefully very soon she should be studying for the intermediate licence, and passing it..
Just a note to those people out there who are interested I am also a chorister in my local church, and have just passed the deans award, and i am now looking into getting to the top award in the RSCM category as soon as possible but we'll see how the year progresses. There will be pictures as soon as I get them on the pc they will be online!!!! (Sophie you thought you were getting away with it lol)
I would love to hear from any people around the UK and the world, and would also love any comments about the site, drop me an email sometime..
You an usually find me creeping around one of the local creepy Crawly repeaters in West Sussex..... Either WS or NX or I can be found on many other 2 meter repeaters around my local area........
Hope to catch some time on the air...
